Foto Friday: Lagos with a view

October 21, 2016

My first week in Lagos has definitely had its ups, downs & memorable moments, but one thing I’ve really appreciated is how beautiful this city is. It can be hard to see sometimes when you’re walking down the street and there’s trash, car exhaust and all sorts of traffic everywhere. But from time to time, you will be on the 9th, 7th or even 2nd floor of a building & just think wow: THIS is Lagos. I love it and I hope we can get more people to appreciate the beauty of Lagos so much we turn around the dumping trash anywhere culture. In the meantime, enjoy some of these gorgeous cityscape I captured.  Oh! And some people who wanted to be in front of my camera!

Oshodi – An underappreciated Lagos view

The busiest market in Lagos is Oshodi market. I catch a bus there to work. I haven’t had a chance to go through the market, and from the stories I’ve heard, I’m a little scared. That said, I took the pedestrian walk-over that crosses Oshodi market, and it was such a breath taking view I had to stop and take a few snaps despite my friend’s pleas to move on due to perceived danger. I think it was worth it:

Did you enjoy this post? I’m working really hard on being braver with my photo taking. I always feel a little shy whipping out my camera. I’m also trying really hard to improve my turn around time for editing photographs. It’s the number one thing keeping me from churning out more blog posts. I have posts from my time in Europe, a year ago, that are written, edited & drafted…and the raw photos remain untouched. I appreciate any advice from photographers & bloggers alike!

Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog to get updates when I edit enough photos for a new post!

Very lovely photos. Oshodi looks chaotically beautiful. I would be scared to whip out my camera there though. Actually, in most non-touristy places in Lagos.. Kudos!

Thank you so much! Yeah, there was NO way I would have done that if I wasn’t walking with a friend. So he watched me as I took my photo, then hurried me up to move along, lol. And Oshodi’s beauty is definitely only appreciated from above. On the ground is WAYYY to chaotic for me…although, I’m sure there are some cool shots there for the brave photographer.
